Assam Biodiversity
Biodiversity of Assam, a region in the northeastern part of India, makes it one of the most popular biodiversity hotspots. A major breakthrough in recent years has been the conservation of Indian rhinos in Kaziranga National Park
In addition, there are numerous Gangetic dolphins, mongooses, giant squirrels, and pythons. The largest number of wild buffalo anywhere is in Assam.
Grasslands support a number of important wildlife in Assam. Essential grasses Apluda mutica, Phragmites karka, Sclerostachya Fusca, Saccharum species, etc. These species grow mainly at the beginning of the monsoon and grow up to six feet tall.
